KFC has launched a new dessert menu item for the first time in two years, Kentucky Fried Cookie Dough.
The new item will be available across Australia, beginning August 6th.
It's made with chocolate chip cookie dough covered in a deep-fried coating.
Three pieces are available for A$2.95, six pieces can be purchased for A$5.95 or they can be bought as part of the Complete Treat box.
The Treat box features a Zinger burger, three Wicked Wings, three pieces of Fried Cookie Dough, chips, potato and gravy and a drink.
KFC Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer, Tami Cunningham said, "We’re always seeking to delight fans of our iconic fried chicken with new and exciting taste sensations, and we’re thrilled to introduce this delightfully moreish treat for those with a sweet tooth to enjoy after their KFC meal."
“However, like all good things, Kentucky Fried Cookie Dough won’t be available forever so head into store and grab them while they’re here.”
The new menu item will only be available until September 2nd.
The last time KFC added a new dessert item to its menu was back in 2022, with the introduction of the Double Chocolate Mousse.
In related news, last month, the fast-food chain revealed it would trial a new controversial drive-through feature months after it was canned in the US.
Five outlets in Sydney now use artificial intelligence (AI) to take customer orders at drive-through booths.
This is in an effort to "elevate the restaurant experience for both customers and team members."
However, the chicken experts have insisted drivers can still request an employee take their order at the participating restaurants in South Penrith, Wetherill Park, Mt Druitt, Minto and Frenchs Forest.
A spokesperson said, "The new technology is being embraced by team members as it allows more time to prepare food and deliver a great experience for our customers."
“Importantly, this trial isn’t replacing any jobs. If customers want to speak to a team member at the drive-through instead, this option is always available. As we continue to test and refine this new technology, we are welcoming customer feedback.”
