A construction worker has died after a serious crash near Paw Paw, Michigan.

Reason Tillman-Morgan from Grand Rapids, Michigan was operating a forklift when a semi-truck came barreling towards him.

Michigan State Police say he attempted to jump from the lift before it was hit by two semi-trucks.

The semi-truck driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries but as it seems, he was accompanied by another individual in the truck.

Tow truck driver Rob True has been on the job for 40 years, but has never seen a call like this.

Rob is stunned the driver survived. "It took the impact at the windshield. It took the whole top of the cab off from the steering wheel. Everything is gone."

The morning after towing the truck to his shop in Dowagiac, Michigan, he received a call from the trucker's family. They were questioning where their dog was.

"My first thought was if there was a dog still in the truck, there's absolutely no way it's still alive. But we jumped in the truck and went to the lot and I crawled up and started going through debris and we heard a little whimper."

Rob spotted the Rottweiler trapped inside the truck and quickly worked to free him.

"His leg was caught and he couldn't move. Had stuff piled on him, covered in glass. So we dug down, got stuff moved, got him freed and got him some water. He was all better after that."

Rob was shocked the dog not only survived the crash, but the heat.

Once the truck was parked, it was covered with a tarp so the temperature inside would've been around 93 degrees Celsius (200 degrees Fahrenheit).

Rob doesn't want any recognition but wants people to believe there can be hope in tragedies.

"To show everyone that just because something nasty, dangerous, and gloomy happens that there is positive still out there."

The owner picked up the dog and is over the moon that he is healthy and back in her arms.

The accident is still under investigation.
