A medical practitioner from Melbourne is still suspended after he lost his appeal against immediate action take by the Medical Board of Australia.

On the 29th of March 2021, Dr. Ahmed Kamil Mohamed Cassim was suspended pending immediate action by the Medical Board of Australia.

A number of the practitioner's patients have claimed counts of sexual assault against him, leaving the Medical Board to take immediate action, suspending him in order for the country to still believe in the medical profession.

The tribunal held upheld the Medical Board's decision:

- They believe the practitioner poses a serious risk to persons and thus immediate action had to have been taken.

- Taking immediate action against the practitioner was "otherwise in the public interest" in accordance with section 156(1)(e) of the National Law.

- The seriousness of the allegations made, the similarities between different patient's accounts, the escalating nature of the conduct, and the evidence of impact on two patients.

- Gender-based restrictions are not appropriate or sufficient to assess risk. Leaves risk of public confidence in the medical profession. Even if the practitioner minimised consultations with male patients, there is still risk with female patients.

The decision to suspend the practitioner's registration pending immediate action was confirmed.
