Man Shot Dead By Police

A man has been shot dead by police after he allegedly lunged at them with a knife during a domestic violence callout. 

Officers were responding to reports of a stabbing in Grange, Brisbane around 2:15PM on Sunday, when the incident occurred.

Footage was captured of the moment his mother arrived to discover her son dead.

“They shot him. They shot my son,” she was heard screaming.

The incident occurred after police arrived to find a 53-year-old man suffering a laceration to his hand and an injury to his left shoulder.


The 29-year-old was armed when officers arrived on scene.

Police have alleged he moved towards them while holding the knife before an officer fired three shots.

First aid and CPR were immediately given but he was declared dead on scene.

The 53-year-old was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

The two men are believed to have know each other.

Police are continuing investigations and the address was declared a crime scene.


This incident is also under investigation by the Ethical Standards Command on behalf of the State Coroner.

All findings will be subjected to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
