A man has been pummeled in an attack during broad daylight by a group of cyclists in downtown Los Angeles.
The man was driving a pickup truck, when video footage captured his knocked to the ground by a group of people, then stomped on and kicked last Thursday.
A witness claimed it all started when a cyclist claimed he had struck one of their bikes.
The victim, unidentified, had his head covered as he endured brutal kicks from the assailants.
Local jewelers quickly arrived to yell at the group to stop.
One bystander was seen removing his belt and whipping it around to scare the assailants.
After the attack, one suspect, not wearing a shirt, was seen bashing the victim's pickup truck with his bike handle. The windshield seemed shattered in the video.
The LAPD reported a call coming in about the incident after 4PM, witnesses claiming 10 males on bicycles aging 15 to 18.
By the time officers arrived on scene, all involved had fled including the victim.
One witness claimed there were six or seven young people on bikes and the fight seemed to break out after the driver allegedly hit one of the bikes.
“That’s when they were able to catch up to him, banging on his windows, banging on his truck and then he pulled over and jumped out and he got [beaten]. It was horrible.”
A local jeweler Roman Kim noted the cyclists rode around the street like they "owned the road."
“There are six guys on their bikes, just swerving in and out, which is kind of nuts because with how busy everything is, you can’t really be doing this.”
It was reported this attack was the latest of tempers surrounding the road.
It was recorded by the LAPD, there were almost 30% more road rage incidents in the last 12 months then in 2018 and 2019 combined.
“You feel for the guy, but stuff like this is happening so much around here lately, you kind of start to get desensitised a little bit. You want to keep that humanity and feel, but …”
