A dad from Massachusetts, Anthony Silva has claimed he was forced to spend $21,000 just for his daughter and her friends to see Taylor Swift's concert, due to the original tickets never showing up.
In November, he had purchased four tickets for 'The Era's Tour' on May 19th as a Christmas gift for his 19-year-old daughter.
The whole lot cost $1,800 and was purchased through StubHub, although he was left empty-handed days before the show.
He decided to try a different ticket site, meeting the enormous $21,000 price tag, 11x the amount he originally paid.
“This is just not right. In my opinion, they should not wait until the day before for the tickets to be sent out by the re-seller.”
StubHub has a policy where tickets don't get sent until the day before the event, and alternative tickets weren't available.
“Approximately $21,000, for better seats but of course you can see this puts me back a little bit. I think it’s for no reason but for incompetence through the third party or through StubHub.”
He had also rented a limo for the experience, and had some fun at the expense of Katlyn (his daughter) before telling her about the new tickets.
“We played a joke on them telling them yesterday, telling them the tickets were really gone, and the look on their faces I never want to see again. One girl had a quivering lip. I won’t tell you who."
Katlyn threw a mini tantrum due to the unfortunate event.
“I went home slamming stuff, I was so angry, so disappointed because I was looking forward to this for nine months."
Ticketmaster cancelled the general public on-sale for 'The Era's Tour' in November due to “historically unprecedented” demand at its presale events.
“Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow’s public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been cancelled."
25 fans of the superstar took legal action against Ticketmaster last December, suing the company for fraud and intentional misrepresentation.
Other fans have also been burned by the site.
Another family, based in Maryland had to pay $2,100 after the non-delivery of their tickets, compared to $700.
“I wanted Taylor Swift to be my first concert….I was so excited. I had everything packed.”
