Chilling footage has been revealed of the moment before a teen was chased down a Melbourne street by two machete-wielding boys shortly before his death.
Pasawm Lyhym passed away after he was stabbed around 3:45PM on Thursday afternoon.
The 16-year-old was confronted before suddenly fleeing as his assailants followed.
Video footage has now emerged showcasing the two teens, one wearing a school bag and tie, chasing Pasawm down the street with large knives.
Police have confirmed the other two boys, both 16-years-old, were injured during the incident, one treated at the scene, the other taken to hospital.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on Friday morning in relation to the investigation, but it has been revealed he was released without charge the following morning.
An 18-year-old male was interviewed by police, but was also released without charge. Further investigations are ongoing.
The community have demanded a weapons amnesty as a result of this altercation, which occurred during a spike in children carrying knives.
Investigators are said to believe the incident involved two different groups from two different schools.
“They are schoolchildren around the 15 or 16-year-old mark and they know each other."
“They’ve met down near the Sunshine bus station and that’s where an altercation has taken place.”
A spokeswoman has said investigators are continuing the search for a third boy, and have urged him to come forward.
“Detectives are still working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and the motivation for the altercation."
Pasawm's school principal has said, “The Staughton College community is shocked at the senseless death of one of our students yesterday at Sunshine."
“We are wrapping our arms around the family and friends of that student and ensuring that students and staff have all the support they need.”
The Department of Education also expressed its "deepest sympathy" for the family and friends, and the school community.
Police are urging anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the altercation to please come forward, or contact crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.
