Man Accused Of Parliament Sexual Assault Facing Court

A 26-year-old man who was arrested over alleged sexual assault at Parliament House in March 2019, is now facing court and will be charged.

ACT Policing allege that on Saturday, March 23rd 2019, a man had sexual intercourse at Parliament House with a woman who did not consent.

A report was first received in April 2019 by the Criminal Investigations - Sexual Assault and Child Abuse. Team.

A formal complaint was made in February this year.

The investigation did remain open.

Police have spoken to witnesses and collected evidence.

Legal representation for the man received a summons to appear in court on September 16th.

The man will be facing one charge of sexual intercourse without consent and will be facing a maximum of 12 years behind bars.
