Man Charged With Connection To Alleged Anti-Muslim Crimes

The New York City Police Department has arrested and charged a man due to connections to three anti-Muslim crimes that took place in Queens.

NYPD has confirmed Naved Durrni (30) is facing charges of assault as a hate crime, menacing as a hate crime, criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of aggravated harrassment. 

There is no proof whether or not Durrni has representation. These hate crimes took place over a period of five weeks.

On the 20th of June, it was reported that an individual was allegedly followed a man (31) and a woman (24) in Queens, where anti-Muslim comments were made before the man was punched in the back, the woman's hijab was pulled, and she was punched in the arm. Both victims decided against medical attention.

Just an hour after the first incident, it was reported the individual was allegedly following a man (64) and woman (56) in Queens before making more anti-Muslim remarks, punching the woman in the face and head several times and then left the scene. The woman ended up with a fractured nose, cuts to her head and face and proceeded to a hospital for medical treatment.

July 25th was the third incident. The individual followed a woman (38) before pulling out a knife and threatening her, making anti-Muslim comments. The individual then fled the scene.

Durrni is being charged with three counts of aggravated harassment and one count of hate crime assault. He has also been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, hate crime menacing, and aggravated harassment as a hate crime.
